Africa Computational Mechanics Award: As this is the first conference, a certificate and cash prize of €1500 will be awarded in recognition of the African who has made the largest contribution to Computational Mechanics internationally over the past decade. A special awards committee will be appointed for the purpose of selecting awardees.
A special opening lecture has also been established to celebrate the contributions of Professor Oleg C Zienkiewicz. An eminent scientist in the area of computational mechanics is expected to give this opening lecture. Professor Thomas J.R. Hughes of University of Texas at Austin has kindly agreed to give this first lecture.
